In addition to my piano teaching practice, I offer tuition on brass instruments including trumpet, cornet, french horn and trombone. I am an experienced french hornist playing regularly in orchestras and chamber music ensembles. Whether you want to perform in an orchestra or band, boost confidence through performance, or simply enjoy learning music, I tailor lessons to your goals.
My teaching combines high-quality musical education with a relaxed, encouraging atmosphere that supports creativity, confidence, and a strong musical foundation. Lessons are available in-person at my home studio in Frome, Somerset, BA11, or online for those further afield. I have plenty of experience in supporting students in preparation for exam success. Students and parents benefit from:
- Comprehensive and supportive teaching – a progressive, structured approach, placing music-making at the heart of learning whilst weaving in technique, practice strategies, music reading, theory, listening and improvisation.
- Prepare for exams and performances – I offer tailored preparation for graded exams, auditions and performances, including work on repertoire, confidence, sight-reading and aural tests.
- Piano accompaniment – Enjoy playing music in context with professional accompaniment during lessons. I also offer piano accompaniments for exams, auditions and performances.
- Support between lessons – Take advantage of notes and resources supplied after each lesson which are sent by email and accessible through your personal on-line learning portal.
- Flexible scheduling – Choose a regular appointment or book each lesson on-line at a time that suits you. No charge for cancelled lessons, provided you let me know in advance.
